For 2020, Facebook has updated their privacy checkup tool. Watch this video to learn how to use it to check up on your privacy and safety settings on Facebook. #FacebookPrivacyCheckup With this tool, you can review who can see what you share on Facebook, how to keep your account secure, how people can find you on Facebook, and your data settings. You can locate the privacy checkup tool on the Facebook website by clicking on the question mark icon in the top right corner. Then click Privacy Checkup. Now, you can select what settings you want to check up on. Let’s start with “Who Can See What You Can Share.” Click Continue. Here you’ll see each piece of information you have on your profile. For each of these, you can individually set who can see that information on your profile. Click the current privacy setting on the right to view more options. Then, select who you would like to be able to see that information: Public, Friends, Only Me, any groups you’re part of, or your Close Friends. Continue to set privacy for each bit of information on your profile. When you’re all done, click Next. Now you can decide who can see your posts. Follow the same steps to set privacy settings for your future and past Facebook posts. Click Next. Now you can check up on your blocked list. See who you’ve previously blocked and add more users to your blocked list if you like. Once that’s finished you’re done with this section. Click Review Another Topic to move on. Next we’ll go over the “How to Keep Your Account Secure” section. Click Continue. First you can update your password to one that’s harder to guess. If you think your password is already strong enough, click Next. The next step is to control your alerts. Choose how you want to be notified if someone logs into your account from a new device. Click Next. Then select Review Another Topic. Click How People Can Find You on Facebook. Click Continue. Now you can choose who is allowed to send you friend requests, and who can look you up by your phone number and email address. The last section is Your Data Settings on Facebook. First you can review apps and websites that you’ve used Facebook to log in to. If you no longer want to use your Facebook login for one of these sites or apps, click Remove.
