Utawarerumono is a niche yet cherished franchise of Visual Novel and RPG Hybrid games, focusing heavily on their attention to world building and world cohesion as well as their characters and character development.
Despite great praise and a rabid fan base the series has never quite managed to get off the ground, and what we have here today, is what I believe to be their attempt to garner a new fan base and new interest in the original franchise by making a spin-off in the style of a Tamsoft hack and slash musou game.
Is there a bigger audience for a series of this genre? Sure. But will the execution be enough to get the audience they desire? Watch and find out!

Should probably have mentioned as well but this game will also feature online co-op. For obvious reasons this is one aspect of the game I could not test out prior to review.
I'm rather expecting since the title is so niche that online co-op will be rather dead at launch, and only be of use if you and a buddy both own copies of the game and want to work together.
