Title:Layer Render Free - export H.264 using FFmpeg directly from After Effects

FFRender Free Effect allows the user to render 8-bit H.264 at the layer level using an external FFmpeg installation. All known AE renderers export at the level of a composition. The commercial FFRender Effect provides more options. You can download the Win version. A Mac version will be out soon. A sample project is also provided. Links to the free version as well as documentation and sample projects are provided here - Apply the plugin on an adjustment layer above the layers you wish to render. Make sure that the resolution is at 100%. You may get an error dialog if the resolution is less than 100%. TIP :- The plugin should be used on an adjustment layer and the in and out point of the layer should be used to notify the start and end of the video. The video can only be rendered if the play marker is on the active part of the layer. Codecs – Only H.264 is available in the free version. Presets – For every codec, there are corresponding presets available. For 8-bit options, lossless 8-bit RGB video is sent from AE. HQ, MQ and LQ presets available for the free version. Render Separate Audio – Selecting this will generate an extra .wav file with the same root name as the output video. Codec options are not available in the free version. Delay – The FFmpeg executable is run as a separate process, and the delay value swaps out the CPU for that number of milliseconds so it can run. TIP:- Do not change this unless you know what you are doing. FFmpeg Binary – Opens a file selection dialog to select the FFmpeg binary being used. By default the plugin just uses “FFmpeg.exe” and depends on your system to find the binary in the PATH env variable. Using this popup you can use multiple binaries for multiple renders. Render – This dialog allows you to select the directory and filename for the output file. The output extension notifies the plugin which container you wish to use. If the FFmpeg binary is not selected, the plugin will ask you for that too. Once the render begins you will see the progress window. NOTES:- I found that this renderer is faster than the internal AE render engine. Also, unlike other AE render plugins, it does not create any intermediate files and as far as I know, it is the only layer level renderer available for After Effects. Keeping FFmpeg outside the plugin allows for the use of different binaries.
