The COVID 19 infection affects lungs as a result of which many patients develop shortness of breath and lowering of oxygen levels. A normal oxygen level is 95 percent or higher. If the oxygen level drops below 94, oxygen supplementation is required. While awaiting oxygen, patients can start practising self proning to improve their oxygen levels.
Prone position can help you by increasing the oxygen levels by 5 to 10%.
In this video, we will share the correct way of self proning. We must clarify that it is not a replacement for oxygen or ventilator’s requirement. It is an adjunct to improve your oxygen level by 5 to 10 percent. This, in some cases will avoid the need for oxygen, and in others it may decrease the amount of oxygen required and also provide you time to arrange for bed, oxygen or icu bed. If your oxygen levels remain low despite practising this method, you must rush to hospital immediately!
Watch this video to understand how Proning should be done and how it can benefit you.
