Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was the Vice President of India who also became the Chief Minister of Rajasthan thrice though every time he didn't have a full majority. A master manipulator and a mass leader Shekhawat came from a very humble background. Earlier, Bhairon Singh Shekhawat was Police Sub-Inspector in Siker state. Shekhawat had to resign from police service due to a tussle with Rajpurohit of Sikar state. After independence, he accidentally came into politics and became an MLA from Danta-Ramgarh Constituency in 1952. Former Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat died on May 15, 2010, two days after he was admitted to a hospital here complaining of uneasiness and breathing problems at the age of 87 years.
