The Langtang region, though close to Kathmandu, sees fewer trekkers than either the Annapurna or Everest regions. The Langtang region was Nepal’s first Himalayan National Park and was officially established in 1976. It is the home to many protected species of wildlife and you may be lucky enough to spot the shy, endangered red panda amongst the lower reaches of the valley which is covered in dense forest.
