Recently a New Fund called PM CARES Fund (Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund) was set up to tackle distress situations such as that of Migrant Workers, up-gradation of Healthcare facilities, and more such as posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In one-and-a-half months, the fund has raked in thousands of crores worth of donations including unlimited tax-free contributions from major corporates.
Amid concerns raised over the transparency of the PM Cares Fund set up for COVID-19 relief, an RTI was filed to which the PMO replied that the Fund doesn't come under the scope of "public authority" under the RTI act. Incidentally, a similar question for 'PMNRF' (Prime Minister National Disaster Relief Fund) is still pending before the Delhi High Court. What do you think about this whole Issue?
