The U.S. submarine fleet is the strongest in the world. Moreover, in terms of the number of nuclear submarines, it surpasses the navies of all other countries combined. As of May 2024, the U.S. has 68 nuclear submarines, Russia has 31, China has 12, Great Britain and France have 10 each, and India has one nuclear submarine. The rest of the countries have no such weapons. However, if we take into account diesel-electric submarines, the picture is not so rosy. The U.S. has none at all. Russia has 39 of them, so its submarine fleet has a total of 70 submarines. China has a total of 72 submarines. But still, nuclear submarines are noticeably superior to their diesel-electric counterparts in terms of their technical characteristics. And the main thing is not the total number of submarines, but the weapons on board, and what tasks can be solved with their help.
