STORY: Stars of 'John Wick 4' walked the red carpet in Hollywood on Monday (March 21) for the movie's premiere.
The latest instalment in the blockbuster franchise sees Wick, played by Hollywood icon Keanu Reeves uncovering a plan to defeat the High Table. But before he can be free, he has to face another new enemy.
Returning to the franchise along with Reeves is actor Laurence Fishburne, who also worked with the star on the Matrix Trilogy.
The movie franchise is known for its fast-paced and carefully constructed fight scenes, with martial arts a key theme. Among the stars binging their skills to the latest instalment, British action actor and martial arts fighter Scott Adkins who has previously starred in movies including The Bourne Ultimatum, Zero Dark Thirty and Doctor Strange.
"If you're doing it right, the action is painful. It hurts. You've got to be some sort of sadomasochist to really enjoy it. I don't particularly enjoy the process of it, what I love is the end result and that's what makes it all worthwhile. Chad, Keanu had a saying on the set and it was "Wick is pain", Adkins told Reuters during the red carpet.
English TV icon, Ian McShane who has been a stalwart of the series reprises his role as Winston.
John Wick 4 will also be the last in the series to feature the late Lance Reddick. The star of The Wire, Bosch and previous John Wick instalments passed away just days ago, leaving a huge hole in the hearts of co-stars and friends.
"He's been a such an influence in the series. I think his DNA is all over this movie" says Director, Chad Stahelski.
John Wick 4 opens in US movie theaters on March 24.
