“Qoricancha”, “Qorikancha”, or “Koricancha” are some of the names accepted among the locals of Cusco, Peru. Coricancha means the combination of two Quechua words. The first being “Quri” is translated to “worked gold.” The second part “Kancha” is translated to “Temple” or “Place closed by Walls”. Basically it boils down to “Golden Temple” or “Golden Walls”. Historically it's assumed its walls and gardens were covered by gold and precious metals making it shine.
