What can we learn from methamphetamine addicts about ending our own addictions? Psychologist Dr. Nicholas Taylor develops community based treatment methods for methamphetamine and other drug addictions. He believes that any of us can break the cycle of addiction by experiencing and relearning “natural” sources of pleasure -- spending time playing with children, talking with loved one, taking a walk in nature, etc. In this talk he explains how reconditioning pleasure is simple and essential. Video produced by Jay Canode & David Jacobson Intro animation by Adam Smith Intro music “So Good To Be True” by Host Bodies https://soundcloud.com/hostbodies Dr. Taylor is a licensed clinical psychologist and a level three certified addictions counselor. He currently is the director of Solutions Wellness Center in Montrose, Colorado. He is the developer of the community based substance use treatment method commonly referred to as “The Delta Model,” and in 2008 with coauthor, Dr. Herb Covey, he published the book Helping People Addicted to Methamphetamine: A Creative New Approach for Families and Communities. http://www.solutionsandme.com/ This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
