Work on the project was carried out in the first half of the 1960s as part of cooperation with the countries of the Western European Union to create new types of armored vehicles. The German developments of promising anti-tank self-propelled guns had a great influence. The vehicle itself became a development of the theme of turret tank destroyers, which was developed by the defense company OTO Melara. For a number of reasons, the project was not implemented in metal.
