What is the difference between 2/4 and 4/4 time signatures? On the face of it, there may appear to be little difference between music in 2/4 time or music in 4/4 time. Often it is possible to count 2 or 4 beats to the same piece of music. In this music theory lesson we explain the subtle difference between 2/4 and 4/4 in terms of accentuation of strong and weak beats.
