New processes in printing technology led to an explosion of print from the 1840s. Cambrians prided themselves on the accuracy of the numerous wood and steel engravings of monuments and artefacts in their journal. From the mid-1870s the Cambrians had their own draughtsman, the accomplished Worthington George Smith. Photographs were increasingly used from the 1870s.
