This is bigger than the area of Chandigarh. - The city was planned to accommodate a huge population of 3.5 million people. - Amaravati planners assumed that 1.5 million jobs would be created in this city. - The city was supposed to have underground electricity lines and internet cables. - The legislative house was planned to be 68 metres taller than the Statue of Unity. - Planners of this city had a vision of a sustainable city that’s why 50% of the city was planned to be left for greenspaces. - But one election in 2019 changed everything, when Jagan Mohan Reddy won the election he decided that Amaravati’s plan would not be taken forward and cancelled it. - Instead he proposed the 3 capital plan which is being contested in the court as we speak and the verdict would be delivered after the elections of 2024, while pushing the farmers who gave up their land into uncertainty. ...
